Garth Memories
Garth School has been a vital part of Georgetown's history since its founding. Established on historic grounds, it has educated a large segment of the community. The Georgetown & Scott County Museum proudly presents “Garth Memories”, an exhibit honoring the rich and varied history of Garth Schools.
Garth’s history, while not widely known, is both captivating and complex. Our exhibit features a timeline highlighting significant events in Garth’s past, pays tribute to alumni and staff, and displays a diverse array of memorabilia, including school merchandise and yearbooks dating back to 1934.
Beyond the historical details, Garth has made a profound impact on everyone in our community, students and staff alike, and this legacy is worthy of celebration. Join us for “Garth Memories” from August 14th to October 31st to honor and explore the rich, engaging history of Garth School.
This is a video about Garth's very own, Coach Walter Thomason, later nicknamed Bedie by his teams. It showcases many of his attributes and talents during his coaching career. He coached Girls' Basketball, Football, Track, and Baseball. Coach Bedie took all 4 teams from winless to winners. Winning multiple championships in almost all 4 sports.
